Circle crop, grids and strips: which one to pick

Four ways to cut one photo. Here’s what each is for and how to get a clean result.

  • Crop to a shape

Pick a shape first, then drag. 1:1 suits shop thumbnails, 4:5 fills the Instagram feed, 16:9 fits YouTube and slides, and 9:16 fits Stories. Free lets you draw any box, and Original keeps your photo’s own shape so you only trim the edges.

  • Circle crop for profile pictures

Circle saves a round picture on a see-through background, so it sits cleanly in any app’s avatar spot. Leave a little room above the head and keep the eyes about a third of the way down. Because the corners are clear, the same file works as a sticker too.

  • Grid maker for Instagram

Grid cuts a photo into square tiles: 3 × 3 for a full profile takeover, 2 × 3 or 1 × 3 for one or two rows, and 2 × 2 for a quick four-part reveal. Post from the last tile to the first, so the picture lands in the right order on your profile.

  • An image splitter for strips

Split cuts the photo into 2 to 6 equal strips, top to bottom or left to right. Use it for a long chat screenshot that needs to post in order, or a wide panorama that swipes across a carousel as one picture. Every piece arrives in one ZIP, numbered in order.

  • Cropping close without going soft

Cropping keeps the part you choose at full quality, but it can’t add detail that was never there. Crop in tight on a small part of a photo and it may look soft when shown large. Run it through the AI Image Upscaler afterwards to make it bigger and sharper.

  • Crop image online to exact sizes

The box shows its size in pixels under the photo as you drag. When a site asks for an exact width and height, crop to the right shape here, then type the numbers into the Image Resizer. Both run in your browser, so the photo is never uploaded.
